We assist STEM entrepreneurs of black-owned businesses in the U.S., HBCUs, and also universities in the Caribbean, with successfully manufacturing products and accelerating materials development in sectors that have a significant and direct influence on improving our climate. Designing sustainable materials solutions can be tackled by a number of ways – via better engineering materials to enhance energy efficiency, lower water consumption, energy, and CO2 generation during manufacturing, or just engineering and scaling compostable bio-based materials that billions of people around the world use every day. Our mission is to grow the STEM talent pool, strengthen expertise in materials innovation and manufacturing, while promoting sustainability awareness among researchers from underrepresented groups. We offer technical support, professional development training, strategic planning guidance, and technical writing support services with the aims of preserving our planet, boosting small business revenue, increasing organizational research impact, and elevating national and global name recognition.

We offer a variety of materials science consulting services including:
Materials processing and characterization guidance. Our focus areas encompass polymers, composites, fibers, bio-composites, biomimetic materials, nanomaterials, and textiles for applications in energy, power, structural, and consumer use.
Short courses and workshops. Topics include, but are not limited to bio-inspired materials and strategies, process optimization, and applied materials characterization for techniques, such as dielectric spectroscopy and analysis of complex material systems, interpreting and detecting issues in infrared spectroscopy data, thermal analysis, and others.
Proposal technical narrative review and feedback to put forth a stronger and more competitive technical narrative to increase prospects of funding.

We have developed a proven methodology that we tailor to the specific backgrounds and needs of our clients. By taking a data-driven approach to consulting and the latest trends in materials innovation, manufacturing, and product development, we are confident that we can help our clients achieve their goals.

With over 15 years of experience in materials science research and technical leadership, Dr. Tiffany Williams, Founder of Williams Labs International, is well-equipped to get you unstuck in your R&D efforts. Her background spans over a decade in both the aerospace and consumer products industries after earning M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science & Engineering, as well as a B.S. in Chemistry from an HBCU. Dr. Williams excels in driving materials innovation, helping small businesses and minority serving institutions overcome common barriers while scaling their research products.
Dr. Williams has:
- Led multi-million dollar projects focused on advancing next-generation aerospace and propulsion technologies in the U.S.
- Assisted small businesses with reducing barriers to commercialization and fostered an environment for manufacturing growth.
- Guided numerous SBIR and STTR contracts to successful completion through her roles as topic lead, contracting officer representative, and technical monitor.
- Served as a subject matter expert on numerous university-led research programs and grants.
- Earned a U.S. utility patent and contributed to intellectual property and licensing of other innovations.
- Pioneered bio-inspired materials research at NASA to advance sustainable and efficient aerospace technologies.
- Scaled and optimized manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and performance.
- Received numerous awards, including NASA's prestigious Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal, BEYA's Modern Day Technology Leader Award, and the Women of Color in STEM's Rising Technology All-Star Award
- Mentored and trained dozens of students and early-career STEM professionals in both government and industry.
- Supported policies aimed at advancing early- to mid-stage technologies.
- Developed and characterized fibers, thermoplastics, thermosets, adhesives, fiber-reinforced and particulate-filled polymer composites, and materials exposed to radiation (UV, ionizing), thermal, electrical and mechanical stresses to increase longevity.
Her current interests include the bioeconomy, materials for energy and power, bioadhesives, bio-inspired materials and processes, textiles, and climate-resilient construction materials.
